Great Vintage Buys

Today we got some great vintage buys - I got a big pack of vintage greeting cards for only £2.00. Those shown above are my favourites. They must have come from a house clearance because they are all addressed to the same lady - someone called Louise. I wonder who she was and what sort of a life she lived ... I'm sure she would be tickled pink to think I had bought her cards and would be putting them to good use as vintage decoration around Lucy's Cottage !

BUT the very best vintage buy from today was this antique bureau/writing desk which we picked up for only £15.00 ! It is made of oak or walnut and looks to be 1940s or 1950s although it could have been made later. We have been wanting something to sit underneath the bookshelves Lovely Hubby built to use as a vintage drinks cabinet - think 1920s champagne bowls, cocktail shakers, soda syphons etc ! Well this bureau fits like a glove and looks as if it was made for the space. We can leave it closed during the day and then open it up and display all our vintage drinks things when we want to have a bit of a cocktail party or at Christmas. Isn't it just the bee's knees and the cat's pajamas ?

Lovely Hubby has taken out the inside section so we have room for all our glasses and bits and bobs ...
Now I just need to find that perfect cocktail shaker and soda syphon ... Ebay !!

  5. The cards are gorgeous, and I am sure Louise would be very happy to think the cards she treasured were being given a good, loving home! I absolutely love your writing desk, I have one the same, but older, more '30's/40's style. What a good idea to use it as a drinks cabinet! X
