Hayfever Blues

Today I woke up full of hayfever ... stinging eyes, blocked nose, fuzzy head. It's always such a shame to spend bright, sunny summer days stuck indoors but it's the same every year around this time. It's been bad since we got back from Dorset but I think the walk across the cow meadows last night made it worse :( The girls enjoyed themselves though !

I decided to spend my morning constructively by baking a Victoria sandwich cake. I always use Delia Smith's All-in-One-Sponge recipe which calls for:-

4oz/110g self-raising flour, sifted
4oz/110g soft margarine (I prefer Stork)
4oz/110g caster sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 large eggs
2-3 drops vanilla essence

Whizz all the ingredients together in a bowl and cook in the middle of a pre-heated over an 170 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.

The results are always good !

The finished article was extremely nice with a cup of Yorkshire Tea !

This afternoon I need to decide where to hang the new picture frames I bought and also decide which photo prints to order. When I bought all the frames I thought I had a lot more cards I wanted to frame but when it came down to it I only had a few. At least now I have the frames I can put new cards up as I find them. My favourite currently is this of a dog in a bowler hat with the caption 'He's a Tramp' ...

We also have a lot of pheasant pictures. This one is my favourite...

  4. You can't beat a good Victoria sponge - yum! Shame about the hayfever- thankfully I don't suffer from it but I have spent the last 20 minutes sneezing - uh oh!
