Oh to be Beside the Seaside !

We've just returned from a wonderful eight days in Highcliffe on the Dorset coast. The weather was splendid and we filled our days with beachcombing, picnics by the sea, vintage shopping and a glass or two of wine in the garden !

Lucy and Whiskers had a particularly good time on the beach whilst we were hunting for shells and interesting pebbles...

Mum and Dad's garden was at its best with the rhodedendrons out as well as a whole lot of other flowers ...

One of the days we took the girls into the New Forest for a walk along a disused railroad track outside of Burley. It was wonderful to see so many wildflowers, insects and, of course, New Forest ponies ...

This foal was really adorable :)

We were also lucky enough to see wild orchids growing ...

Our vintage shopping wasn't a great success this trip but I did find this adorable little chap who I bagged for the modest sum of £10.00 - a bargain if ever I've seen one ! He was from a house clearance shop and the lady owner inside was the spitting image of Aunty Wainwright from 'Last of the Summer Wine'. Hence we now refer to her shop as "Aunty Wainwrights" !

I've named him Hector and he now sits on our bed next to my vintage leopard, Max. Hector is rather threadbare but it all adds to his charm and he only needs some TLC.

Mum and I managed to complete two jigsaws in the evenings - this lovely Brambly Hedge one ...

And one with a seaside theme !
